Loving right now... Alice

A little bit edgy, a lot of visual texture... Alice was a show on HBO On-Demand I discovered this weekend. Where have I been?  The episodes are all subtitled and follow a 25 year old chica going through the motions, encountering some odd situations and learning to deal with some heavy stuff.

I love the way this show is shot ..... it's just my new thing I'm loving right now!

Inspiring...

Circles! Orange! Color! This awesome table available on Etsy.

There is also a lovely teal circle table for less than $100. This orange circle table is more, but the craftsmanship and the uniqueness of this orange table is so inspiring. How could I use it? Why would I EVER put anything on top of it!

Then I was over at Apartment Therapy and was inspired by this luscious outdoor scene.  The Orla Kiely table cloth, of course, totally pulled me in but the story of using raised beds to create this gorgeous get away reminds me why I love coming home and seeing my own container gardening experiments.... and my uniquely me approach to making the outside of my apartment appealing. 

And then to top it off, I love wacky, new ways to think about plants or showcasing flowers. Whether it's the platters or wooden bowls or unique plates I use with planters... or other ideas.  Check this one out!

Greens, oranges, growth, lush... these will be my dream bits tonight. Sleepy peace.

Scrapbook Layout: PHC

Went to Prairie Home Companion and wanted to do a quick layout about it - AND to use the super delicious papers from Carolyn Gavin's line for K&Co. Yes, THAT Carolyn!  ECOJOT divineness for scrapbookers.  If you haven't seen this quirky and adorable line, check it OUT!

I used 12x12 patterned papers from the designer card stock, a photo mat and very lovely (and versatile = card design) glimmer sticker border. The Title letters are American Crafts and the flowers are Heidi Swapp and BoBunny. Clip is Making Memories. 

QUICK layout - super fun papers. I had a hard time picking out which one to use!  Sweet peace!

Scrapbook Layout: My Love Bug Betty

Finally posting what I worked on over the weekend. It is so funny how long it can take and how many different ideas cross my mind when doing a layout.  Not as elaborate as I was thinking but I am pleased with it. Shades of navy Bazzill frame the pictures. The patterned card stock is Fruit Fizz from the Basic Grey Lime Rickey line. I used Bazzill cardstock for the header and these FANTASTIC new Bazzill cardstock die cut strips in new shapes as well.  LOVE THESE!   The flower is Junkitz, the heart is Heidi Swapp. The journaling block is from Colorbok and the letters on the title... the Target $1 spot! 

Am winding down the weekend as I type and thinking of moving my blog - or designing it via iWeb. Not sure what I'm going to do! Right now I'm watching an older BBC series called the Duchess of Duke Street. So top of the evening peace to you all...

My first round with Lime Rickey!

I finally decided on the papers to use for my Betty Bug page. Here's a pic of Betty. As you can see from the color, it's a hard one to match and figure out which papers (solids or pattern) to use for the design. I looked for reds and that was not working. Then I thought about green and stumbled on to a series of pictures of Betty that also have green in the background (trees, etc).

As you can see from the picture, and it's pretty true to how the picture prints out, it's an orange red but it's not orange. It's also not a blue-red. 

So tonight I figured out that I'll use Lime Rickey from Basic Grey.  The pattern I'm going to use is Fruit Fizz. Stay tuned, more to come, but for tonight I'm having Basic Grey pattern peace :-)

Loving right now... The Real Houswives (all of 'em)

I'm working on a layout of the Betty Bettle Bug and will post it soon. Tonight I printed out my pictures on the HP710 and am working on using a June 2009 Pagemaps layout as the basis for the design.

If you haven't checked out Becky's Page Maps you are in for a TREAT. I can't remember exactly when I discovered her site - it was before she started publishing with Making Memories magazine. They are great when you need a good kick in the creative pants for a layout. For my Betty Beetle layout, I am going to use her layout above as my template cause I want to do a one page layout but I have lots of photos.... thus this looks like a good match.

I am LOVING all of the Real Housewives shows on Bravo right now. It is such a ridiculous guilty pleasure of a show. Some are better than others - I think I like the NYC show the best of them all. The NJ folks are a little odd - that's all I'll say about that.  The Orange County folks are just plastic - but funny to watch. I have never seen the Atlanta show so I guess I have a new season to look forward to.

So tonight I am hanging in the craft room and planning my Betty page.... and also thinking about using my "new to me" Stampin' Up pads that I purchased for a GREAT deal tonight.

Sense and Sensibility...

I don't think I ever tire of the Emma Thompson version of Sense & Sensibility. Watching it on my big TV (big to me still after a year!) it is a treat. I play attention to every detail. The houses, the colors of the pain, the clothes the textiles. The hats. 

Tonight I was inspired by the creams, off whites, grays of the house that the family moves to after they are dispatched from the estate. I never realized till tonight how the house was a metaphor for the exile and the forlorn yet lovely rolling (yet bleak) Devon hills they progress through on the journey.

I have to get craftin' --- too many inspirations! Not enough crafting.  I also want to sew.  A cover for my sewing machine, a matching skirt for my craft table and a curtain to cover my book case.  Hmmmm these are tall orders.

Making lists... and peace.

I was taking pictures of things on Saturday that were inspiring colors or patterns. Upon review, I immediately saw a trend: I am dottie for polka dots! Peace to you and yours.
