Loving right now...

So many cute things I am loving right now!  I am not even sure where to start!

First, there's this Williams Sonoma Oreo-ish cake pan that is so cute it makes me want to make a vat of buttercream frosting and buy this immediately.

I was blog surfing and this Kadinsky watch at the Guggenheim shop made me want to start collecting "Swatch-ish" watches again. Ever since I got back from London, I've been perusing the Swatches - even wore my vintage 1986 all black Swatch to work one week.  However, look at this gorgeous watch! How much fun!

Then on one of the blogs I love there was a link to these awesome car key rings!  I am loving the Mustang key ring. Some of them aren't appealing, but it made me think about all the cool keys there are out there and how they could make sweet rings.

And then here is something that totally makes me want to go in my massive button stash and do something FUN - look at this cute button bouquet.  Why is this cute to me?? Cause I could make some SWEET VW flowers for my VW bug vase.

Movie Review: Once Upon A Time in the Midlands

Too long, but it has Robert Carlyle and I adore him.  A plus is that it also co-stars Shirley Henderson who was his lovely romantic interest in the series Hamish MacBeth. And you know how much I love Hamish!

This movie, Once Upon a Time in the Midlands,  was 1hr45m. It could have been cut by 15 or 20 minutes. The premise is a n'er do well Carlyle gets in trouble with a heist gone wrong and happens to go back to the Midlands to escape and also to catch up with his baby mama, Henderson, who just rejected her boyfriend's proposal on national Scottish TV.  That's all I'll say for now - it's playing on Sundance and you can get it on Netflix.

More important things! I grilled steaks tonight and took The Girls on walkies. Then started exploring my blogs - I love the blog-o-sphere. Tonight I found TWO awesome new recommendations.  

For baking, check out this COOL NEW store Layer Cake Shop for everything you need for awesome baking supplies.  I don't bake so it's primarily eye candy for me. I adore the photography, the colors, the amazing selection of stuff makes me want to buy some baking supplies... it's almost scrap-bookie kind of stuff.

Then I was reading another blog and found out about Bonjour Mon Cousin - they make fantastic pillows! This one with the insert is called WINDY and is 31Euros. I want is SO MUCH.

I adore finding these new sites and ideas. Now it's late and I must get ready for another Monday - maybe I'll log off Merry MacBook and go do some crafting.

Inspired by Giada... Mac & Cheese

Wasn't feeling well today and was forced to watch the Food Network. Giada had a "Pasta Potluck" episode on this afternoon which included so many different pastas - even a pasta PIE. I decided to treat myself to a whole wheat pasta mac & cheese. It was decadent. I improvised w/ heavy cream, parmesan, romano, havarti, cheddar, butter and salt & pepper. This dinner was AMAZING!!!  So great in fact, I took some photos. I can't wait to put it under the broiler tomorrow night for dinner when it will be even better.

Clear Stamp Storage

While clear stamps are amazing, versatile and a great bang for the buck, I have found storing them a bear. I have used the sheet protectors in notebooks, bins and baskets by type of stamp or manufacturer, etc.

For me, I have found my ultimate solution. It is modular, easy to store, easy to reference and marries up with the way I store my wood mounted stamps.

I am using the clear plastic Stampendous THICKER boxes. At first I was just using the cases (8.5"x11"x1") and had the stamps sorted in some rough themes.  It was of course not exactly perfect because I may have a sheet with sentiments, background and an image stamp.  I still wasn't using all my clear stamps. 

So I read about someone using acetate sheets to manage their clear stamps in these storage cases.  

I bought .003 acetate sheets at Jerry's Artorama. I separated my stamps into themes such as flowers & organic

objects, sentiments (non-holiday), holidays and holiday images, alphabets, etc.

I put the stamps in groupings on acetate sheets and separated each one with a sheet of card stock. At some point

I will sit down on a Saturday and stamp each image onto the card stock so it shows up better. Right now, 

I'm thrilled. I can easily sort through these just like my wood stamps!

Here are some pictures - organizational peace to all.

The stamps are stuck on the acetate and then I put them face down on top of the card stock. This way you can

scan the images and pick them up and move them w/ a sheet of cardstock easily to see the next layer of stamps.

This shows you how these boxes easily stack on a shelf. I'll take a label maker and name each box w/ a theme.

Also for the clear stamps that already come on 8.5x11 sheets of acetate, they easily fit right in a box.

Dreaming of flowers Georgie Girl style.

Don't these flowers look dreamy? Unreal in gorgeousness. Peonies the likes of which we don't find around here. And it is so English and ... perfect so where would I put them?

And then I dream of the most amazing stamp desk - my dream desk with these lovely

flowers sitting on top from French Envy. The only location fine enough for such

flowery goodness.

And I know that is a dream because I can't imagine spending $3000 for a stamp desk

no matter how well made.  Then my dreams would flow to food and cool

foodie projects like this one from Bakerella.

And then I think about the fact that I don't bake as that involves carbs and I realize that 

a dream of Liberty of London Nikes is probably... the most comfy, cozy and appropriately

FLOWERY dream of all for Georgie Girl.

Fun projects....

So I want to marry up these papers from Basic Grey

with both of these stamps from Basic Grey

 into a cute card that is a tea bag holder for small gifts that say "thinking of you".  Here is an example of the template I'm going to use from vervegirl who I think must own Verve Stamps.  on Splitcoast Stampers. There are actually a lot of links on Splitcoast. Check out this forum thread for more about tea bag holders. I liked vervegirl's template the best so far. 

I haven't decided when I'll tackle these, but have definitely given thought to what papers, colors and stamps I want to use. For some reason the holiday concept isn't speaking to me.  It's July. Go figure.

I am working on a page for my trip to the Bristol race in March. It's coming along nicely. I have the layout and have started working on the materials. Am trying to remember to build up from the bottom, adding texture.  It is very easy to take layouts too literally (sometimes that is good) other times, that is boring. I'm creating memories for myself later in life ( I don't have kids) so I don't just want to look at 20 photos. I want to look at the best 5 photos and read the story.

Blogs I adore... Violet Posy

There are so many blogs I frequent and Violet Posy is one I have enjoyed for a long time. I don't think I've ever blogged about it. Violet Posy is a blog from a UK former IT manager who has a good eye (IMO) for things I like. I like her style of photography, the things she covers on her blog... and so I wanted to share that with Georgie Girls visitors.

She recently blogged about Pimm's cocktails - and coincidentally I had one at a 4th of July BBQ yesterday. So today, I thought... let me share some of the Violet Posy goodness.

I has been awhile since I blogged. Am still trying to figure out what to do between Facebook, Twitter and blogging and how much I want it all to bleed together.  Also just the whole aspect of the blog design. I have wanted to customize my Georgie Girls banner and get it set up a bit more like I envision but .... just haven't had the time to educate myself on my options and then create it.

Today is Sunday and I'm having coffee with The Girls.  Then I am going to the library. I will wash clothes and at some point start to figure out what I want to create today. These weekends and evenings can pass me by lately as I spend too much time on TV (when I could craft & TV in my scrap room!) or I am working on making bits and pieces perfect that don't matter.

More time to create... peace to all this lovely day.
